Welcome to the Transfer Guide! Transferring is a mechanic allowing you to transfer outside characters from other groups into Sleepkins for your use. Now there are some important things to know about transferring characters, such as what kinds of transfers there are, what each of them means, how you get slots to transfer, and more!

There's also some important information on what transferring a character into the Sleepkin world means, so make sure you read all of this guide before deciding you want to transfer one of your beloved characters in!

Sleepkins has two different kinds of transfers, each having its own bonus' and drawbacks! Let's take a look at the two available methods for booting your character into the wonderful wide world of Sleepkin!

Pick-up transfer

The Character you are transferring in must be from another Evolving Species ARPG group, examples including groups such as; Aurillion, Glowkins, Kwillians, etc. encompassing any group that involved applying upgrades to your character!
Your character must be One (1) Month old in order to be transferred into the group, calculated from their assumed baby approval image!

This type of transfer requires a Portal Shard!

fresh-start Transfer

The character you are transferring into the group can be any kind of character, including Personal OC's, Evolved Species, Closed Species, etc.
The character you want to transfer in has to be at least Six (6) Months old in order to be transferred into the group.

This type of transfer requires a Youth Brew!

How to transfer?

Now that you know what kinds of transfers there are, and their limitations, let's look at what you'll need in order to transfer your Character into the group!

How to Transfer

1. You must have Five (5) images of the character you want to transfer in aside from their oldest image! These must be spread over separate images, not all together.

2. Magic is transferrable, if :
◦ The magic was learned through a Trial/Class/Learning System

◦ We have a matching/closely corresponding magic to the one your character has learned.

All you need to transfer magic is
◦ Proof of Completion
◦ The Original Magic Type

Unfortunately, if your character did NOT learn this magic through a Trial/Class/Learning system, their magic is non-transferable and your character will have to relearn the Sleepkins way!

3. You must draw the character you want to transfer into Sleepkins using the corresponding item

Let's look at what kind of characters you can and can't transfer into Sleepkin! Of course please remember that Portal Shards still can only be used on Evolving Species characters!

Transfer-Able?

OC's you have complete ownership rights to, this includes but is not limited to...
◦ Original / Non-Group Characters
◦ Fan-Characters*
◦ Open SpeciesCharacters
◦ Closed SpeciesCharacters
◦ Evolving Species Characters

If the species you are transferring has a master list entry, please provide that in the description

Non Transfer-Able?

Any OC you do not completely own, including;
◦ Copy-Righted Characters
◦ Co-Owned OC's, even if you're one of the people who owns them.

This covers any character of that sort, and you will be immediately denied if any attempt to transfer in this kind of character takes place.
Fan-Characters who are too close to the original Character they're based on.

Fan-Character rules

Now I know that it may be upsetting to hear that some Fan-Characters are not allowed, however, the circumstances of which your Fan-Character may be denied are pretty easy to avoid. Essentially, you cannot transfer in any Fan-Character that resembles the original character/design too closely. i.e. you can't take just take Rainbow Dash and change a couple of colors on her or take a Pikachu and add hair, and expect them to be allowed to transfer.

Differing colors, accessories, major features, patterns, etc. are important in making sure that a Fan-Character is acceptable! Lets take a look at an example of what wouldn't and would be acceptable.

When looking at your fan characters, compare them to the original and see if you can tell them apart as two completely separate characters at a glance! If you can't, then your OC probably isn't acceptable for transferring into the group!

While the Eevee in the middle is cute and has some minorly tweaked colors, it's far too close to the original to be valid for transferring. Change up some colors, patterns, and some of the Eevee's look, and ta-da! A whole new, distinguishable OC that can be transferred into the group!

Though there are two different transfer types, they have some overlapping consistencies! Let's take a look at the general rules that are and aren't allowed.

General Rules

There is no upgrade cap for your transfers, however, you cannot add upgrades onto your Sleepkin in the group that does not appear on their original form.
[If you remove any of these upgrades, you must re-fulfill the requirements to re-apply it.]
All of the following upgrades/upgrade categories cannot be on transfers;
◦ Special Upgrades (YCH, Event, etc.)
◦ Tattered Ears
◦ Blindness
◦ All Void/Light Magic Upgrades
◦ Any Non-Elementary Magic Upgrades
You must have an approved Bred or MYO Sleepkin, meaning that your transfer can't be your introduction into the group.

Allowed Changes:

Small edits to your OC's design, can include;
◦ Small adjustments to colors as long as they stay similar to their original shade/hue.
◦ Minor placement or pattern adjustments from the original
These changes should be minor, any major changes can be done with the use of upgrades after approval.
Using an old or alternate version of the character for transferring, however, we ask you to stick to one version of the character.
◦ This means that all 6 Images of your Character, including the 'oldest image' proof for your character, be the same version. You cannot just completely change your OC before bringing them in.
Using the character outside of Sleepkin.
◦ You are allowed to continue to use the character outside of Sleepkin, however, we discourage transferring Evolving Species into Sleepkins just to continue drawing them in the other group as well to avoid confusion.

Disallowed Changes:

Submitting images of the "original" OC to the Sleepkin group, these should not be submitted, and cannot count for Dream Dust or Requirements. Only the Sleepkin version of the OC counts for Dream Dust or Requirements.
Redesigning/Adding Features to your OC right before approval.
◦ Do not add anything to your Character just because you want that upgrade on them as a Sleepkin, you'll be asked to remove it from the approval if you attempt this.
Abusing the System to obtain rare upgrades.

You cannot use upgrades that are adult only as all Transfers start off as Naplings!

You cannot make a subspecies with transfers.

Oldest Image: The oldest image of the version of your OC you're using for transfer.
5 Separate Images: 5 Separate Images of your Sleepkins OC Form required for transferring.

Before we approach the final posts, let's look at these two examples of an unacceptable and acceptable transfer!

Issues to Fix:

The two characters aren't recognizable as the same character at all.
Adding Upgrades the Original Design doesn't have.
Adding Adult-Only Upgrades to a Napling
The colors are completely different from the colors on the original Character and should be changed back!

Corrections Made:

The two are now recognizable as the same character.
The upgrades on the original and new design match, with no discrepancies.
No Adult-Only Upgrades as all Transfers are Naplings!
The colors, though adjusted, are still similar to the original character!

All done with your Transfer Approval? Alright! Now it's time to get your new Sleepkin approved, granted you have the right item, so head over to the #transfer-approvals channel over in the Sleepkins Discord to get them approved!
